Responsibilities of CHESAPEAKE BAY RETRIEVERS Andrea Shawe:

1. The animal is guaranteed to be in good health at the time of delivery. This animal does not come guaranteed free of Hip Dysplasia. Breeders have used OFA cleared animals in an effort to reduce this disease’s occurrence. Our dogs come with many generations free of hip and eye problems. HD is a multi-factorial genetic disease that can be transmitted a recessive manner. Therefore the breeder cannot guarantee that it won’t crop up. Should your puppy come down with HD, Andrea Shawe will replace your puppy with the next available puppy as long as we are still breeding dogs, and within the 2 year health guarantee . 

1. A set of care instructions is provided with this contract, including a record of all vaccinations given up to the date of delivery. There is also a recommended vaccination schedule, subject to the discretion of the Buyers veterinarian.

1. A pedigree will be provided along with the AKC registration papers. NOTE that AKC registration should be sent in before puppy is 1 year of age to avoid late penalty charges.

1. If the animal is not picked up at our home, it will be shipped via the most direct route to the Buyer @ buyers expense, unless other arrangements have been agreed upon. We will meet you part way if it helps within a 4 hour drive from Warrenton, Mo or a radius of 250 miles for a fee of $350.00.

1. Puppy shots are given at 6 weeks. We have been using Warrenton Vet. Clinic. Call for any information 636-456-4164.

1. Worming is done @ 3 & 5 weeks by Andrea Shawe.

1. Puppy is currently being fed IAMS/EUKANUBA puppy food.

Responsibilities of the Buyer:

1. The buyer agrees to have the animal examined by a veterinarian of his/her choice within 1-week of receiving delivery of the animal. The buyer will notify Breeder immediately of any serious problem requiring possible refund, exchange, or return of the animal.

1. If circumstances occur which prevent the buyer from retaining possession/ownership of the animal, Breeder shall be given the first opportunity to reacquire the animal. The animal cannot be sold, traded, given away, destroyed, or otherwise transferred without written permission from the Breeder!!!  Taking a Chessie to an animal shelter is not to happen under any circumstance period. The animal or any of its offspring cannot be sold through a store, broker, dealer, or retail establishment. Return expense of the animal shall be the buyer’s responsibility.

1. The Buyer agrees to provide the animal with the basic requirements for good health, include but not necessarily limited to needed veterinary care, vaccinations, a nutritious diet, heart-worm prevention and a good exercise program are a must.

1. The Buyer assumes the responsibility to carry on with the appropriate vaccinations, exercise and feeding schedule, as supplied by the breeder. MOST PARTICULARLY, the Buyer agrees to keep the puppy at a good average weight throughout its normal growth period.

1. The Buyer agrees to provide a fenced yard, pen, or run with adequate shelter from the elements. The animal is NOT to be allowed to roam nor be staked out on a chain.
