Hi Andrea,
I just looked at your website and saw you have another litter on the way! Hope everyone enjoys their puppies as much as we do. I was going through some more pictures and found this video. It was taken somewhere around 10 weeks old and her first time showing her swimming skills off to elizabeth's parents. She had just learned jumping in, but still hadn't perfected using her back legs to swim but like everything else shes been taught, give her 2-3 days and she a pro. We love the chessie determination.

Thanks for calling yesterday. I have been so hesitant to buy without seeing a dog in person. But you really put me at ease. It didn't hurt that your vet bought one at the first visit. That really says a lot about your dogs. You should remember that with the next litter. It is a great selling point.

> I put the check in today's mail. Hope you get it soon. And I put the pup on my face book page to warn family and friends. Thanks for all your help. I look forward to meeting you in person.

Hello Shawes! So, Jeremy and I giggled about naming our pup Sadie without even remembering you have a Sadie for a few days. But the name suits her beautifully! We had her at our family vet, Barrett Station Veterinary Clinic with Dr. Laura Pletz, on her 8-week b-day. She weighed 15.2 pounds!! I'm guessing that is normal for a Chessie? She's grown so much even since then! How big is Brewin?Sadie is having a grand time going to work with me. She has become a celebrity and does extremely well meeting new people. We haven't met very little ones yet, because I wanted her to get used to the noises, etc, of the studio, and we look forward to meeting younger kids soon (especially after our next round of shots this Tuesday the 11th). She is a very good student and sits quite nicely. She knows her areas in the house already, and with patience will remain in her crate without closing the door. Potty training is going very well...she let's us know in her own way, but sometimes I still mis-read her signals and we have an accident, but really not too many! Jeremy and I are absolutely in love with her and are just so grateful to have found you guys! It's only been a week, but I can DEFINITELY see why you like Chessies so much! OH...and she SLEEPS SLEEPS SLEEPS, just as pups are supposed to, but it's hysterical...she can sleep soundly through an entire tap class!Anyway, we'll keep you updated!Keep us up to date with how Brewin is doing! We're opening our pool soon so we can get her swimming...she knows there's water under that cover...Sincerely,Kacy, Jeremy, and Sadie
Hi Andrea,
Chopper had a good showing at the St. Charles County fair this weekend. His qualifying jump was 22’2” which put him in the Masters category. After thinking he was probably dehydrated at the Lincoln County Fair finals, John made sure to swim him a lot on Saturday morning so that we knew he’d be hydrated—even if it was with pool water—yuk! The finals were supposed to start at 1:00, but the morning qualifiers had been delayed due to lightning. So we ended up sitting around for almost 5 hours before he even jumped—we had gotten there around noon, and he didn’t even go until around 5:00 or 5:15. When we first got there, he had been peeing a lot, so we were sure he was good and hydrated. I didn’t bring his water because all he did at Lincoln County was dump it, and I didn’t realize we’d be waiting around so long. After several hours of waiting we were getting nervous, so we bought a bottle of water and were able to get him to drink from my hand. He didn’t drink a lot, but at least he got something. When the water was gone, we gave him some Propel. He seemed to like it—I guess because of the sweet taste. It was either that or Diet Coke J Propel seemed the better choice.
His first jump was 25’2”—if this had been a qualifier, that would have put him into the Super Elite category. His second jump was only 22’5”, but I think even that would have been enough to win his category. So he got first, and we were thrilled to death. John is still figuring out the specifics of getting a good throw so that he jumps longer, but he thinks he knows what to do now. Hopefully we’ll be in town for the boat show in the winter and we can try him again there. Last year we had been out of town, so we didn’t get to do that.
There was another Chessie there too. She was a 3-yr old female that had come from Joan Ziegenfuss. She was in the Senior division, which is one down from the Masters, but she made it to the finals and got 5th. Her owner was a newbie at this too, and he knew that he didn’t have some great throws. I hope we see them out there again. I just love seeing Chessies. One girl that is part of the Gateway Dock Dogs has a Chessie, so whenever she sees one, she loves all over it—needless to say, Chopper gets lots of attention from her!
I didn’t send any pictures this time. After a while, they all start to look the same. Hopefully next year he’ll be more consistent at the long jumps. He’s still going to fill out and I’m sure will get even stronger. We’ll keep you posted.

hi Andrea,
i had some time to go through some pictures ive taken over the past couple of weeks. Gracie is doing great, shes become a strong swimmer and her favorite is jumping into the pool. Once she starts there is no stopping. Her personality is really starting to blossom.she absolutely loves people, cautious at first, but , quick to be comfortable. Training has been harder on us keeping up with her feels like our motto has been a trick a day lately. hope you enjoy these pictures, feel free to post any of these pics on your website if you like. Although she doesn't sit still for long, when she does she takes a great photo.

Dennis and Andrea,
I just wanted to send you a few pictures of Cabella and let you know how wonderful she is. We forgot how "fun" puppy life was! A few late nights but she is doing great. I just wanted to let you know that we were very impressed by you guys and that we will pass your name on in the future. I also got a call yesterday from a breeder in Seymour Missouri, which is 30 miles from us. She is getting out of the business for medical reasons and she is selling her male. If you are interested in talking with her I can get all the info for you. I believe she is selling him for $2000.00 plus a lot of equipment comes with him. She said that she studs him all over the US and he gets $1000.00 for a stud fee. Well, hope all is well and attached are some pictures of our new baby girl!
Have a wonderful and blessed day,
Mark

Hi Andrea- I just thought I would send you a note and let you know that WE LOVE OUR CHESSIE!! He is growing like a weed and as my husband says, is in full puppy mode!!! I have found that you have to watch him with anything soft like stuffed animals and anything paper related! He loves stealing tissue out of the bathrooms! He does a lot of talking in the mornings when we get up which is just the sweetest thing ever!! We are spoiling him and love getting outside to play with him. One of my female dogs, Maisy, he has really taken a liking too, and they play and chase each other around the house and yard. They even play tug of war with the rope toys. I have fallen in love with this breed and just want to tell everyone about him. You will probably get tired of hearing from me!! I am attaching a picture of him laying on our couch in his favorite position!

Hi Andrea,
Ryder continues to be a feisty joy in our household and on the trails around the Refuge. We have definitely lost sleep, but also laughed a lot. He has quit the strong personality and is using his nose to find everything. On a recent short camping trip we dubbed him our "mountain goat" because he relentlessly managed to get up on any rock within his reach to be higher. Attached are several pictures from the last few weeks. We're confident he has doubled in size (or at least it appears that way!). We take him to the vet Wednesday for his 9 week check up and vaccinations. Everything is going really great and we love him immensely. We have no doubt he's an intelligent pup! Also, he learned how to leap in the last few weeks and carry shoes around--fun fun :) And he loves the snow! We still have some drifts of snow left on the Refuge from the winter. One in particular is in our backyard and being on it is his favorite past time. He climbs on in and pounces the snow and then tries to grab the snowflakes that move around. It's very cute.
Best,
Natalie
THINK BEFORE YOU BUY!!! ARE YOU READY FOR A CHESSIE? Before deciding on a Chessie, there are a few questions that you should ask yourself regarding a new dog in the family. This puppy will share your home and heart for many years and the decision to obtain it should be discussed with and clearly understood by all family members. A simplified checklist follows with many items to discuss before purchasing a new dog:
